Privacy policy

1. Who is responsible

SpotValue is operated by Astrum Forge Studios Pty Ltd (ABN 69 701 688 128), based in Western Australia. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean that company. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].

This policy covers the public website and waitlist. There are currently no customer accounts or payments on this site. We will update this policy before introducing those features.

2. Information we collect and why

Waitlist: your email address, subscription status, and records associated with signup, consent, and email delivery. We use these to send launch news and occasional SpotValue product updates, manage subscriptions, and prevent abuse. You can browse without joining; an email address is needed to receive updates.

Enquiries: your email address and anything you choose to include when you contact us. We use this to respond and keep a record of the enquiry. Please do not send identity documents, financial account details, or other sensitive information unless we specifically need it to handle a request.

Website requests: our hosting provider processes technical information, which can include your IP address, browser information, requested pages, and request times, to deliver and protect the site.

3. Providers and overseas processing

Cloudflare Pages hosts this website. The waitlist form sends your email address directly to Buttondown, which manages the mailing list and sends our emails. Our email provider also processes messages you send us. These providers handle information needed to deliver their services.

Cloudflare and Buttondown are based in the United States and use service providers in other countries. Your information may be processed outside Australia, including in the United States. Their published details are available in Cloudflare’s privacy policy, Buttondown’s privacy policy, and Buttondown’s subprocessor list.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it as needed to operate these services, respond to your requests, or meet a legal obligation. This policy does not replace our responsibility for information we handle.

4. Browser storage and tracking

The website saves your light or dark appearance choice in your browser’s local storage under “sv_theme”. This preference stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can remove it by clearing site data in your browser.

The site code does not include advertising trackers or website analytics scripts. Hosting and email providers still process technical and delivery data as described above. Provider security features and pages you visit after submitting the waitlist form may use their own cookies or similar technologies.

5. Email preferences

Joining the waitlist gives us permission to send SpotValue launch news and occasional product updates. Each marketing email will identify the sender and include a free unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to stop by emailing [email protected]. We will action unsubscribe requests within five working days.

Unsubscribing stops marketing emails; it does not necessarily erase every record. A limited record may be kept to honour your opt-out and document consent. You can separately request deletion.

6. Storage, retention, and security

Information is held electronically in the services used to operate the site, mailing list, and email correspondence. We aim to keep it only as long as needed for the purposes above or to meet legal obligations, then delete or de-identify it. Provider backup copies may remain until their normal deletion cycle.

We take reasonable steps to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, and misuse. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

7. Access, correction, deletion, and complaints

Email [email protected] to request access to or correction of your information, request deletion, or raise a privacy concern. Tell us what you need and, where relevant, the email address used to subscribe. We may need proportionate information to verify that a request relates to you.

We aim to respond within 30 days. If we need more time, or cannot fulfil a request, we will explain why and what options are available. Deletion may be limited where a record must be retained by law.

If a concern remains unresolved, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner can explain whether it can consider your complaint and how to make one. Your rights under any applicable privacy law are not limited by this policy.

8. Changes to this policy

We will publish changes here with a new date. Where a change materially affects how we handle information already collected, we will provide an appropriate notice and obtain any consent required by law before using it for a new purpose.
